Frequently Asked Questions

Some frequently asked questions are answered below. If you would like to find out more about Imperial Productions, on-stage, off-stage, or in the audience, please contact us.

Who are Imperial Productions?

Imperial Productions are a diverse theatre company based in London. We were formerly known as Imperial Opera and pride ourselves in:

  • our high performance standards, both musically and dramatically
  • our innovative and unusual productions
  • our eclectic and varied choice of works

Where are Imperial Productions based?

In and around the centre of London, UK. We usually rehearse in Pimlico or Waterloo. We are fortunate enough to perform at Hoxton Hall and The Cockpit Theatre.

When are rehearsals?

Rehearals run for about 6-10 weeks before a production. The usual weekly rehearsal pattern is two weekday evenings and one weekend day.

How do I get to perform on stage with Imperial?

Anyone is welcome to audition for a part in any show. Principal roles are allocated solely on the merit of the audition - so newcomers have as much chance of getting a part as existing members. We never ask for audition fees, but auditions must be booked in advance, and we ask that any cancellations are notified to the casting director 24 hours in advance.

What about working behind the scenes?

We welcome Designers, Fitup Hands, Show Crew and Front of House staff for all our productions. If you are interested in becoming involved, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the committee.

How much does it cost?

Only full members can stand for committee positions and vote at the AGM. Our annual membership fee is £15. Absolutely anybody can sign up to receive our monthly newsletter.

When is the next production?

For details of the next Imperial production, see the current show pages.

How can I receive information about forthcoming productions?

Join the e-mail list! We use our monthly newsletter to announce all upcoming auditions and opportunities to be involved with the society.
