Book by Claire Luckham | Lyrics by Paul Leigh | Music by George Stiles

PosterDaniel Defoe's famous eighteenth-century novel about a girl born in Newgate Gaol is brought to the stage in this rumbustious musical written by Claire Luckham (author of the play Trafford Tanzi). Moll is sexy, sassy and strong - an extraordinary woman with an extraordinary life! Abandoned by her mother, married five times, a baronet's mistress, a plantation owner and a professional thief - Moll Flanders is a woman to watch. This is her adventure story: from rags to riches, from Colchester to the USA. She looks good, she sounds better and if you enjoy a good romp, you'll love this!

The songs have fresh and witty lyrics by Paul Leigh and the music, by George Stiles (composer of the musicals Just So, Honk! and Peter Pan, as well as writing several songs used in The Shakespeare Revue and additional songs for the London production of Mary Poppins), uses English folk-tunes - from 'Greensleeves' to 'Over the Hill and Far Away' - to evoke the period feel.
