It seemed appropriate, in Millenium Year, to indulge ourselves with a show that looks back to some of the shows presented by Imperial Opera, in various places, over the last twenty years or more. Although not every show could be representedm an effort was made to demonstrate the richness, amibition and variety of works tackled.

Sadly, some of the scores of the less familiar European operettas were not easily available, while it was difficult to find suitable extracts from the Dvorak and Delius operas. Another factor in the choice of items was the response by the Budleigh subscribing members to a recent questionnaire about the sort of things they liked. G&S was a firm favourite, but other musicals styles were also appreciated, so we mixed an appetising cocktail.
